FEBRUARY 2025 LECTURE: ‘ROCKETS, LIONS AND PLANETS’ – THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE LIVERPOOL AND MANCHESTER RAILWAY

Plans are already in progress for the marking 0f the 200th anniversary of the world's first inter-city railway - between Liverpool and Manchester - in 2030. Professor Paul Salveson, chair of the Rocket 2030 Partnership, will offer a glimpse of the plans for 2029 and 2030 and will explore the historical significance of the railway.

 Professor Paul Salveson is chair of the Rocket 2030 Partnership which is planning the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 2030.

 In this lecture Paul will cover the historical significance of the railway and the events that preceded it – and offer a glimpse of plans for 2029 and 2030.
